Oftentimes I’ve gotten the question: “Vee, how on earth did you do this?” or “Vee, how on earth did you manage to achieve that?”. Some or those things were blessings in the form of opportunities granted that I grabbed with both hands. Other achievements have been attained by showing up day after day, putting in the work and implementing certain strategies. In “GET THE GOAL – Uncertain times call for Certain measures” my 4-week online program I get into this in-depth but I’ll discuss one of these now.

One of those strategies is setting myself up to win by not giving myself any other option: we call that COMMITMENT. Commitment is in the same lane with INTEREST, but commitment is in a waaaay different league – Champions League baby!

Let’s dive into the difference between these two.

On my journey, I’ve seen many people who were interested but never made it to the finish line, never got their goal. That is because interest is fleeting. Commitment is seeing something through till the end.

When you are committed then you:

  • … do the necessary.
  • … do it when you don’t initially feel like it.
  • … do it when it’s inconvenient.
  • … do it even when others clown you for it.
  • … do it even if you are the only one.
  • … do it even when you are pushed outside of your comfort zone.
  • … willing to do whatever it takes.
  • … make time because you won’t always just have time.
  • … make it a habit so that it does not cost you so much energy to follow through.
  • … set yourself up to win with processes and procedures that are fool-proof.
  • … set yourself up to win by surrounding yourself with people who are headed in the same direction (path vs direction).
  • … do it because you don’t give yourself any excuses not to, no matter how valid the excuses may be.

Interest on the other hand…

  • It is nice to get you started
  • BUT, it won’t keep you in the throws of life.
  • It’s good because it will catch your attention again and again, even when your mind wonders or gets distracted.

Interest like a firecracker – wow factor, gets your attention, short-lived.

Commitment is like a stone oven – it may take a while but, baby, when that heat is blazing (aka momentum created, and you keep adding wood … choosing that one thing even in the face of other options) it takes more than a lil rain shower to put it.

Side note: Have you ever had a pizza out of a stone oven?
Omg… those pizzas are liiiiiiife!!! Okay, back to the topic at hand…

This is the case for business, life and love.

We are currently in February which is LOVE MONTH. Y’all know how I stay where Valentine’s is concerned as my name is derived from that. Trust, this whole topic on interest vs commitment counts for your Valentine too! Know the difference between someone who’s interested vs someone who’s committed.

Go back and read this blog post or watch this episode with your love in mind and see what matches up…. is your lover interested or committed? Thank me later darling! *wink*
